MALAYSIANS will have many long weekends this year.
Whether travelling abroad or within Malaysia, Gamuda Cove’s Discovery Park makes for an ideal destination as the new tourism hub has many thrilling activities and unique hangout spots with family-friendly facilities.
Discovery Park has plenty to offer, from South-East Asia’s first Cove Aerobar to Archive Food Hall, Blastacars Drift Kart and more.
It is also “dressed up” in motifs inspired by Taiwan’s Rainbow Village, giving visitors a colourful experience, especially this coming Chinese New Year.
Located along the Elite Highway with close proximity to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2), the 9.3ha Discovery Park is the commercial and entertainment segment of Gamuda Cove, Gamuda Land’s latest township with a gross development value of RM20 billion.
Poised to be Malaysia’s first Maxis-enabled 5G township, the 619ha township borders the 3,075.6ha Kuala Langat Forest Reserve and 449.6ha Paya Indah Wetlands.
Mindful town-maker
“What truly differentiates Gamuda Land’s townships from others is our mindful planning and ability to bring all components together thoughtfully, like how we strategically inject fun and excitement into Discovery Park while being mindful of nature and the environment as well as the safety of the surrounding community,” said Gamuda Land leasing, retail and malls director Herbie Tan.
Home to several unique attractions and many experiential activities, Discovery Park is developed according to Gamuda Land’s long-espoused town-making principles that resonate with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 11, in building an integrated and sustainable township for its communities.
With the right mix of family-friendly entertainment and careful selection of internationally-certified or well-qualified providers, Discovery Park offers two zones — the Hangout Village and Adventure Park — where visitors can take a deep dive into thrills and fun, spectacular sights, nature and good food.
Hangout Village
Hangout Village offers unique leisure experiences ranging from shopping and dining to relaxation. Currently, it offers the Cove Aerobar, Archive Food Hall and Rainbow City @ Gamuda Cove.
Cove Aerobar was designed and built by the Aerophile Group from France. This crown jewel is a revolutionary way to enjoy the panoramic view of Gamuda Cove and its neighbouring Paya Indah Wetlands and Kuala Langat Forest Reserve.
During each ride, 16 passengers are ascended 35m above ground to chill out, snap photos and take in the remarkable view.
Inspired by one of Taiwan’s must-visit destinations, Rainbow City @ Gamuda Cove features 14 different motifs that reflect Malaysia’s muhibah spirit and Gamuda Cove’s identity, such as batik, Kadazan arts and Minangkabau carvings.
Positioned in front of Cove Aerobar, it is an ideal spot for Instagrammers and those who want to chill out while admiring the structure.
Meanwhile, Archive Food Hall features retail shops, al fresco cafes and dining options. This social hub for shoppers and foodies is where families and friends can hang out and catch up with one another.
All the crafty items and food offerd here such as satay, laksa Johor, mee rebus, kacang putih and durian puffs were carefully handpicked to serve up a truly Malaysian experience.
Slated for opening this February, the Barsa Pool Club is the first-in-Malaysia beach pool club featuring a 5m diving platform and Malaysia’s largest salt water pool, where visitors of all ages can enjoy pool-surfing on a daybed, diving and drinking in a suburban setting during the day. At night, it will be a club for drinking and partying.
The Adventure Park, which is open to the public, is where visitors can get their heart pumping with Blastacars Drift Karts. A purpose-built ropes course with more than 50 obstacles spread over two storeys plus an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and motocross track is currently being put in place to hype up the Adventure Park. These are targeted to open in March.
Originating from New Zealand, Blastacars offer the adrenaline rush of motorsports by drifting up and down a specially designed race track with an elevation change. To hype things up for motorsport enthusiasts, the Discovery Park will be a spot for monthly motorsport club gatherings.
Exciting future
Although the township will take 18 years to be fully completed, the developer has already accelerated its placemaking activation to transform the business and tourism landscape in southern Klang Valley.
“This is what we meant by creating towns that stand the test of time. We carefully plan every detail and deliver for the community in advance to activate the home place, play place, park place, shopping place.”
“Discovery Park is thus a pivotal catalyst in our placemaking to drive socio-economic growth and complement Gamuda Cove,” concluded Tan, adding that in the pipeline to support tourism activities were Gamuda Cove water-theme park, hotels as well as a regional mall, MICE facilities and offices in the commercial business district.
Discovery Park is open daily from 10am to 10pm and a series of Chinese New Year activities will be hosted every weekend until Feb 9.
