RELIVING the good days when community living within a town is defined by closely knitted relationships is no longer a pipe dream.
At twentyfive.7, Gamuda Land’s latest development in Kota Kemuning, it’s “the place” where people know one another, live and play together and look out for each other.
A friendly atmosphere is the order of the day and neighbours are all one big community.
The neighbourhood’s grocer is just a short walk or biking distance away, the cafe is the focal point for familiar faces to gather and mingle every day while children can go about playing safely on the sidewalk or park in the evenings.
“To make a town work, we need to get the places right. When we plan our towns, we think of not only the home place but the workplace, the shopping place, the eating place, the play place, the park place, as well as the learning place.
“All these need to be mindfully planned and thoughtfully placed together for the community,” said Aw Sei Cheh, general manager of twentyfive.7.
At twentyfive.7, these places are organised around a town square by the water, hence its given name – Quayside.
“Being on the waterfront and having a promenade beside it gives the sense of place that we want for twentyfive.7.
“It has to be a place for people with varying needs, so our town square – the Quayside – is close to having it all – a cinema, cosy restaurants, market place, grocers, wellness and fitness centre, nursery, bookstore and fashion outlets,” Aw said.
Some of the retail partners that twentyfive.7 has attracted are Jaya Grocer, MBO Cinemas, Tai Thong Restaurant, Mr DIY, B.bap, Caring Pharmacy, Guardian Pharmacy, Watsons Pharmacy, Poliklinik Shaik and Ooi & Khor Dental Surgery.
Aw said they were extremely proud and delighted to have anchor tenants such as Jaya Grocer joining the stable of reputable brands at the Quayside.
“It proves that the retailers are confident in our town and the unique concept of twentyfive.7,” Aw added.
Opened in 2007 at Jaya33, Jaya Grocer has since expanded to a total of 21 stores to date. Aimed at the middle to upper market groups, Jaya Grocer offers a wide range of imported products, sourced from all over the world.
“At Jaya Grocer, we firmly believe that wherever our store opens, it has its own unique DNA which is made up of this core concept of sustainable and convenient shopping, melded together with its surroundings.
“The proposition is timely as we are looking to expand our foothold, especially in the middle and upper market residential developments.
“What attracted us to twentyfive.7 is the thoughtful planning that goes into every detail of the masterplan and the type of consumers they will attract.
“We envision a vibrant community of different demographics who will appreciate the unique and varied offerings that Jaya Grocer can bring to the town,” said Teng Yew Huat, founder and managing director of Jaya Grocer.
Another element to ensure a “good community” is the connectivity to one another.
Gamuda Land’s planning principles – from masterplan to the architectural design – allow people to interact with one another with ease.
Hero homes at twentyfive.7 are fenceless and come with landscaped linear gardens, making it easy to step out of one’s home and get connected with neighbours.
A good case in point is the streets. They are not designed just for cars.
Walkability and bike-ability are just as important.
At twentyfive.7, just about everything residents need is within walking distance.
Alternatively, they can choose to cycle to the town square, leave their bikes at the designated spots and then proceed to shop according to their grocery list.
Before heading back home, residents can choose to make a “pit stop” and have the leisure of enjoying a cup of tea or coffee at the cafe next door.
The Quayside is targeted for completion in 2019, along with 231 units of homes launched in Phase One of the project.
Among these are signature homes – semi-detached and superlink homes – featuring multi-facade designs that break away from typical cookie cutter homes.

In a nutshell, the Quayside will be ready to serve the community when they move into their new homes.
