Jade Hills Merchant Market
To ensure residents enjoy a lasting quality of life, continuous maintenance is important to make a good town. Stepping up its game in the new year, Gamuda Land is focusing on “getting the places right” in its townships and that includes placemaking – the management of public spaces that promotes community health and well-being.
With that in mind, Gamuda Land is introducing Jade Hills Merchant Market, a new destination to shop, play and dine in Kajang, adding a breath of fresh excitement into the community of Jade Hills and to a larger extent, the people of Kajang.
Beyond good physical design and community spaces set in a backdrop of lush greenery and lakes that connect individuals and communities, placemaking initiatives like Jade Hills Merchant Market serve as a perfect setting for a fun-filled family day, utilising available public spaces for community benefits.
These activities create a conducive platform to bring people together, so that neighbours will get to know one another, live and play together and form a tight-knit community that will look out for each other. Ultimately, that’s what makes a good community.
Caring For People And Community
Ting emphasised that Gamuda Land’s development principles take into consideration the people and community in which the development is built for.
“At Gamuda Land, we not only build the home place but also the park place, the play place, the shopping place, eating place, learning place, wellness place. Right from the master-planning stage, our team thought through the town planning so that our roads and parks are able to connect the community.
“With 60% of the township completed, we continuously look at ways we can sustain the town through healthy community activities on top of good township management,” he said.
From now until July, on the first and third Sunday of the month, Jade Hills Merchant Market gives shoppers access to various pop up merchants comprising local and international brands that feature a variety of food, goods and services reflecting a specific theme of the month.
Starting with the theme of Carnival in January and Chinese New Year in February, the Merchant Market will also feature a host of activities such as roller-skating, carnival games, bouncy castles, bubble pool, street performances and more exciting activities.
In addition, 60 stalls will appear this month together with the special highlight to test drive a luxury car.The next Merchant Market will be held this Sunday and the highlights are a pre-CNY concert by three local celebrities and a fireworks show.
Enhanced Connectivity
“Besides placemaking, connectivity is also as important to sustain a good town. Besides having streets that are friendly for pedestrians, drivers and bikers, we also invest upfront in infrastructure, providing shuttle services for the community to the town centre and Kajang MRT station.
“More recently, we have opened up an all-new access road, connecting Jade Hills to Cheras South and Balakong for the community’s convenience,” said Ting.
